Is this a good start to a novel?

It sounds good, and it does seem like you are very good writer. Your words make sense - well, everything makes sense really. Except, this type of thing has already been used before, and if I am honest, vampires have gone down hill lately. Hardly anyone likes a good vampire story now. But, it is good, and even though Vampires are slowly going out of date, this does seem good enough for you to continue
