How long can you live with copd?

my mom was diagnosed with copd about two years ago and the doctor said she had two years to live ..she has had bronchitis since she was 10 years old and asthma...so i need advice on if iam going to lose my mom early because she is only 45...or if you can live with copd for along time..please write back..
